Teens Online: Teen Bloggers Discuss Positive Behavior Online

Teens are very adept at using technology to communicate and express themselves.  Texting and tweeting are among the popular ways teens express themselves...to carry on everyday conversations, or to 'vent' and convey ideas and concerns.  Blogging is also a popular way for teens to express themselves.  A recent study found that teens who blog do so as a means to express positive ideas and activities.

The study examined 100 blogs from teens across the United States and found that: "Among the most common positive activities the teens described were playing video games (65 percent); watching television (45 percent); doing homework (40 percent); going to lessons, such as music, dance, or martial arts (38 percent); browsing the Internet (29 percent); and participating in faith-based activities (22 percent)."

These findings are a pleasant surprise for the researchers as they compare how teens have traditionally spent the after-school hours. Blogging teens are curing their boredom with social networking rather than engaging in risky behaviors.  To read in more detail about this research, click here.
